Together Everyone Achieves More
Vamos Bem! began in mid-2024 with a handful of folks attempting to organize and share solutions born out of emergency situations suffered by a few Setúbal residents. A steering team led the initial effort to identify what could be learned and shared from these emergencies and medical challenges. This team crafted a mission, vision and values to guide our work, delivered workshops (in person and online), and developed an online site to inform and make available the tools for anyone in the community to use.
Our original focus was to serve the Setúbal community yet with the understanding that other communities in Portugal might opt to learn from us. This has happened. Already workshops are being delivered in Cascais and the Silver Coast. Other areas are also organizing to offer the same.
Additionally, the national organization for immigrants and visitors to Portugal, Expacity, has delivered online workshops with our Chairwoman, Joy Goldman.
Today, considering our early acceptance across Portugal, we are now expanding our steering committee and have established four subcommittees (teams).
Helping Hands Volunteers
Helping hands volunteers are short term, specific tasks working directly with those in need.
Outreach Team
Our outreach team continually identifies, builds relationships and adds to our resources and related institutions helping us grow.
Events Programming
Events programming maintains our calendar of events across Portugal and assists in scheduling of venues both in person and online.
Communications Team
This team is responsible for messaging and messaging channels – online and offline. Standards in messaging and materials are set by this team. As well, the communications team works with all other teams to assist in their communication efforts, developing the tools necessary.
